"Art & Design Facilitator" Training Program
JOSHIBI UNIVERSITY of Art and Design have started "Art and Design Facilitator" Training Program to develop new type of human resources in art university in 2008. "Art and Design Facilitator" is the human resources who facilitate to solve the problems in local communities and institutions. Our university decided to issue "The Certificate of Art and Design Facilitator" to those who earned more than 12 credits from 6 courses of"Core", "Skill-up", "Social Contribution"from the category of Common Core and Specialty.



Software development to support bearing handicapped children.
In the course of " Project and Collaboration Training" in Specialty of Media Art, the class of Flash contents development was conducted with touch panels, with which anyone can enjoy and inspire the interest outside world and sense the self efficacy. This course has realized in collaboration with nursing homes and corporation in Suginami words as academic-industrial cooperation and this has been the third year since the start of this program. In FY 2007, external evaluation was given by 3rd party evaluation committee. In FY 2008, open class day/evaluation was provided as FD training.

"Liaison Meeting for My Bag promotion Association" at Suginami wards
Our students participated in the "My Bag Promotion Association" by Suginami ward. In the promotion campaign of My Bag in March 2008, the Bag to which children press the character stamp gained the popularity and drew many participants to this program. Our students recorded this activity with Hi Definition TV. This was good training for our students to enhance ability as a facilitator.

Literate Culture Festival
This has been conduced in FY 2006 and 2007.
In collaboration with schools, NPOs and ward residents Shakai Kyoiku Center (Lifelong Education Center), our students and faculty had participated in the activity aiming at "promotion of literate culture festival" which proceeded under the theme of "Let's have fun with reading, listening, writing based on the children's' reading promotion plan. We also enjoyed creating picture book workshop in the program.

Education Festival
This Festival was conducted in collaboration with various NPOs in Suginami ward and Japan Philharmonic Orchestra at Suginami Kokaido. The art with local residence has deepen mutual understanding and our students' works, pictures, clothes, dyeing, fabrics, shaped articles, animations were exhibited. In FY2008, we are continuously contributing to this activity by offering support at the concert held in Niigata prefecture.

Project of Ostrich Egg
This was conducted by children in Futaba Elementary School, local residents and Joshibi. This project is the work shop to think how to utilize ostrich egg which is no longer needed. Our students explained simply about ostrich, trees, how to raise these trees. Children drew pictures of forests on the eggs of ostrich and very next day, the nursery trees are planted on the eggs on which children drew pictures. These were exhibited and children expressed their opinions and brought back these trees to their homes after the event. This gives opportunities to think their local nature and environmental issues while our students could learn how to facilitate children to think about environmental issues as well as workshop operation including preparation.

Green Map Project
This was conducted by children in Futaba Elementary School, local residents and Joshibi. About 30 Joshibi students had conducted workshop to observe local area and expressed any findings about nature and people in the areas on maps. Children spent two hours to see the local areas and placed the best icons among the 120 icons used internationally and took pictures. The very next day, these were placed on a big map, which was later hung at wall of gymnasium and comments were given. This activity was highly evaluated by neighborhood so it will be continued.

Look, Listen, Touch, Play art
In collaboration with Yokohama Civic Art Gallery, the workshop of "Look, Listen, Touch, Play art" for children was planned. This is the workshop of molding designing.
The materials such as plastic bottles and wrapping papers of snacks which are usually discarded after use were used as materials to create objects of "twiddled ""crinkle" and "fluffy". About 30 students participated in this activity as facilitators. About 1,000 children joined this and enjoyed exercising their ingenuity for designing unique objects though communication with the students. Through this activity, students learned the role of facilitator.

What the posters can do"Human Right Art Project by Dentsu and Joshibi"
"It is said that "human right" issue is the one of the most difficult one to tackle with among the various CSR activities which is drawing attention in and out of Japan. In collaboration with Dentsu, Joshibi created poster on the theme of "human right". Our students designed the posters on the theme of "Dentsu Human Rights Slogan". During the design process, our students submitted thumbnail, which are evaluated by personnel of Dentsu and advice was given on Open Evaluation Day. In this year, "Human Right Poster Exhibition" was held to verify design and human right issues to appeal visual approach by Dentsu and Joshibi to the public at Human Right Festival at Tokyo Metropolitan City Ha
